A tour of our school

We are at the school crossing on Kairimu Street.  This is outside our classroom.  When you walk into our school you walk over the big koru.  You can see us standing on it.  The koru is the symbol of our school and you will see it on most of our signs.

Our school uses ‘choice theory’ and this helps us work out problems with each other and our own behaviour.

2012-10-16 20.04.03These are the habits we try to use everyday.  We call them connecting habits as they help us to connect with each other.  We are standing outside one of Room Six’s windows.

These signs help us remember things we can do for ourselves if we have a problem in the playground.

We have lots of play areas at school.  Here is the hall and the netball courts.  Do you play netball?  We have lots of trees to climb at the top courts.

We have four playgrounds, but one is only for the senior kids.

How many playgrounds do you have at your school?

Here is the senior block and our school noticeboard.  We have also said hello to Mrs Mouat, who looks after us in the office.

This is the school library.  We couldn’t get a photo of Miss Hay, our principal as she was in a meeting.  We will take a picture of her next week.  We are lucky at koraunui School because we have a school dog as well.  Her name is Jazz and she comes to school with Miss Hay everyday.  We all love Jazz.  Do you have any animals at your school?

  1. Hi Room Six. We all really enjoyed looking around your school - it is lovely and you all look so happy!! We have a lot of space at our school too. At Moorlands, we have a large site with lots of play areas, although we only have 2 playgrounds, but we do have a conservation area. We don't play netball, but we do a lot of PE and some of us in Year 2 play football and even do fencing.

When Mr Rockey is back in class next week we will try to add some photos of our schoo lto share with you too. Thank you for a great tour.
