Undersea Plaster Tiles

In the holidays Mrs C, Mrs J and Mrs Ritossa went to a plaster workshop at the city art gallery.  They had so much fun making tiles and molds  and working with plaster.  Here we are starting to paint our undersea molds.  We had to borrow the small paint brushes from Whaea Teresa as we need to try and paint in the fine details.  Everyone in Room Six was very careful to work slowly.  Yiduo noticed that the plaster surface soaked up the paint and water and was very smooth to paint on.  We will take more photos as we slowly decorate our tiles.

Making Fishing Rods

On Friday we hade a whale of a time making fishing rods.  We had the most wonderful group of parents to help us who were able to get a good system going where we worked one to one with them to make our own rods.  We used bamboo poles that Vladimir, Jonathon and Nikki’s families organised for us.   We had lots of Mums and Dads come with their tools and we drilled a hole through the top of the pole to attach our line.  Next we added a float and a sinker and when we get to the wharf next Friday we will attach our hooks.  We had to roll up the line and put a rubber band around it to stop the lines from tangling.

We  can’t wait to get to the beach and have a go at fishing.  We hope we catch lots of fish.

boggle

A fun word building game

Mr Barker and Room 23 from Western Heights school had this you tube drum battle on their blog.  Who do you think is the best drummer?  Animal or Travis Barker?  I wonder if they are related?
Too often we give our children answers to remember rather than problems to solve.

Making Easter Bunnies

P4050490

Mrs C was looking in the Healthy Food Guide magazine when she spied directions for making this ultra cute fruit and vegetable bunny, perfect for an Easter activity with our buddies.  Luckily there were lots of apples on her apple tree so she went and collected enough for us all and we got busy making some awesome bunnies to take home on the last day of term.

Newspaper hockey was sooo much fun.  Mrs C thinks Whaea Chanelle might teach us her version of pillow tag next term.  It sounds like Whaea Luana and Whea Becky might be able to help too.
