One week of our two week swimming intensive is now over

Swimming always wrecks our curriculum planning for the weeks when we have this intensive as our complete middle teaching session is taken up with walking to and from the pool and swimming.  For all those parents wondering about Room 6’s reading programme, we have been reading poems and your child should have been brining home a new poem each day to read.  Lots of vocabulary development happens with poetry as well as the fun and beauty of language used well.  Here are some classic pictures of the children swimming

Ormie the pig, an extraordinary problem solver

Room 9 Einsteins at http://theroom9einsteins.edublogs.org/ had this fantastic link on their blog.  It shows such wonderful problem solving and don't give up attitude that I had to put it on our blog too.

ENJOY and don't laugh too hard!

Stokes Valley Library visit.

On our way to Stokes Valley Pool we have been visiting the library.   Today we talked about happy books and sad books.  Happy books are books that are well looked after and look and feel nice to us when we see them in the shelves.  Barbara, the librarian showed us some very sad books.  Some were mouldy, some were drawn in and one had lots of pages ripped out and scribbled on by a baby. :-(   She asked us to tell her if we had an accident with a book we had borrowed as she knows that sometimes accidents happen.  Sometimes you will get charged to replace the book and sometimes it will be OK.

Here we all are listening to the story of Sneezy the snowman.  It is written by Maureen Wright, we wondered if it is Miss Wrights sister???

Buddy Classes for 2012

Te Ruma Tekau are our buddy class for 2012.  We visited them to meet our buddies and spend some time with them today.

We learned some new maori kupu for things you would find at the seaside.  After completing a wordfind together we went out and played octopus.
