Wow, what a wonderful day we had today.

The weather today was fantastic.  We put our fruit basket art up on the wall and Mrs C is taking our Julia Donalsdon posters down to the Stokes Valley library.  Our classroom looks bright and colourful.  Our seeds are sprouting.
Here you can see the root coming out of the bean seed
And now the first leaves are appearing
Our calendula seeds are looking great as well.  We can't wait to plant them in the garden.

We looked at St Augustines blog today and wrote letters to them.  We will publish them on their blog.  It is so cool getting comments from other children and teachers.  We read all of Mr Rockeys classes comments this morning.

A tour of our school

We are at the school crossing on Kairimu Street.  This is outside our classroom.  When you walk into our school you walk over the big koru.  You can see us standing on it.  The koru is the symbol of our school and you will see it on most of our signs.

Our school uses ‘choice theory’ and this helps us work out problems with each other and our own behaviour.

2012-10-16 20.04.03These are the habits we try to use everyday.  We call them connecting habits as they help us to connect with each other.  We are standing outside one of Room Six’s windows.

These signs help us remember things we can do for ourselves if we have a problem in the playground.

We have lots of play areas at school.  Here is the hall and the netball courts.  Do you play netball?  We have lots of trees to climb at the top courts.

We have four playgrounds, but one is only for the senior kids.

How many playgrounds do you have at your school?

Here is the senior block and our school noticeboard.  We have also said hello to Mrs Mouat, who looks after us in the office.

This is the school library.  We couldn’t get a photo of Miss Hay, our principal as she was in a meeting.  We will take a picture of her next week.  We are lucky at koraunui School because we have a school dog as well.  Her name is Jazz and she comes to school with Miss Hay everyday.  We all love Jazz.  Do you have any animals at your school?

Welcome to a tour of our school

2012-10-16 19.45.26

Hi there blog buddies.  We have walked around our school and taken lots of photos of the things that we think are special about our school.  Tomorrow I will get the children to write about them and we will post the photos and comments for you.  Here we are at the entrance to our school.  This is the first place you see when you come to visit us.

Here are the words to the Matariki song:

We hope you enjoy this.
