Ruru

Here is some of the super sixers wonderful writing about the ruru we found at school last week.

The seniors found a ruru.  it looks like a bird.  It has bright yellow feet and a long beak.  it has brown wings and it is very, very soft and light.  Mrs C looked after the ruru in class today.

The seniors found an owl on the ground.  They showed Mrs C.  We got to hold it and it was soft.  It had sharp claws.  owls are nocturnal.  They eat moths and other insects.  They have black and blue eyes.  They have a sharp beak.  They fly fast.  They feed their babies out of their mouths.  their pinch hurts a lot.  they are fat.

Ruru are owls, ruru can see at night because of their special, glow in the dark eyes.  Ruru have razor sharp claws to hunt with so they can kill their prey as they fly to a good spot to eat.  Ruru are fast hunters because of their silent flight.  ruru have a sharp beak with a claw on the end.  They use the claw to break the bones.  Ruru wings can spread out so they can fly faster.  Ruru are beautiful with beautiful yellow spots on their wings.  Ruru have yellow and brown stripes on their bellies.

Rur, when they come to you, it means you are very special.  Rurus have a long tail to help them to fly.  ruru have little hairs near their eyes.  Ruru are very special birds.

A morepork is an owl.  It comes out at night.  If you leave your light on all the bugs come out and the owl comes out to eat the bugs.  The morepork has dark black eyes so they can see in the dark.  it has a sharp, sharp beak.  It has pretty, white, dotty spots.  The tummy is freckled.
