Room Six Art
We have been working hard on our visual art techniques in Room Six. We used crayon and dye to illustrate the firghost poem. Then we went out and looked at all the spring blossoms and daffodils. We used staw blowing to create our branches and then we mixed paints to make our blossoms. They look fantastic and Room Six is looking colourful and ready for summer.
Read around New Zealand
Our read around New Zealand challenge is off to a great start. Callum and Sam are in Auckland and several of the children are hot on their heels between Ne Pymouth and Auckland. Mrs C would love to see some of us pass Cape Reinga over the holidays. Remember to go and visit the library and get your favourite books to read over the two week break.

Pasifika Artsplash
Here we are getting ready for the artsplash 2012 performance. Mrs C had to leave before the other children were ready but just wait until you see the video. The children were fantastic. What amazing teachers, families and other staff members we have at school, putting this together from the dances to the music, costumes and makeup. You all know who you are and you are all fantastic!

Think Boards for maths problem solving
In our problem of the day today we used a thinkboard to help us show our thinking. The problem was one where we could use multiplication, doubling and halving or repeated addition. The children used all of these strategies to work out ways to come up with the solution.
BP Technology Challenge
Last week Mrs C took two teams to the Hutt Valley BP Technology challenge. They had to take their birdhouses and then build an unknown challenge while they were there. Both our teams did really well and were wonderful representatives of our school.

This weeks technology challenge with Room 10
We had to make a tent that one of our team members could fit inside. Most teams were successful in completing a tent but even if they didn't manage the final product, Whaea Chanelle and I are seeing a huge improvement in the teamwork of the children. Ka pai to mahi tamariki!

Yoda comes to visit Koraunui School
Mrs Christenson’s pet sheep Milkshake died last week and now her lamb Yoda is being bottle fed. Mrs C brought her to visit Room 6 on Friday. She was very well behaved.
We liked having Yoda come to school and are hoping she gets to visit us again.
