Room Six is learning to paint portraits of ourselves. We looked at the self portraits of some famous artists, Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Renoir and others. Next Mrs C gave us mirrors so we could look carefully at our faces. We did a small practice picture of ourselves making sure to look carefully at our hair and other features. Mrs C gave us a big sheet of paper and showed us how to fold it to help us get the proportions of the picture correct. Our drawings were fabulous. Today she showed us how to paint our skin tone. We had to make one half of our face darker than the other half. Here are some of our paintings so far. We had to stop and let our work dry so the colours wouldn’t mix. We will go back to painting next week and do some more work on our fantastic portraits.
