More studyladder certificates

Wow, what a lot of children have been busy learning on studyladder.

Fantastic work children.  You are amazing!

Feedback from our science idol entry

Dear Dianne,

Thank you so much for your participation in Science Idol 2012. The competition was a great success this year and we had top-notch entries coming in from all over New Zealand. All videos were reviewed by an independent panel of judges - their decisions were exceedingly difficult to make.

Although your video was not selected as a finalist, I wanted to write personally to thank you for your hard work and to give you some feedback on your video.

This video was simply awesome. Getting the kids involved with all their wild dance moves, only to have them synchronize at the end. Brilliant! You absolutely nailed the scientific content for the age 6/7 audience. Well done. And the repeated chorus does a great job of hammering that message home. Honestly - your video and seeing the kids dance brings a smile to my face every time. Great work! I hope you and the kids had as much fun making it as I did watching it! :)

Sincerely,
Tom McFadden, a.k.a. "The Rhymebosome"

Science Idol Rap

We have been busy writing our rap about classifying fish!  It is sounding great and we have stunning dancers in Room 6.  Mrs C is going to learn to edit videos and add music this weekend so she can submit it to the competition.

Tomorrow in our school Matariki festival.  We are looking forward to it!
Matariki has always been an important time in the Māori calendar.
Heralded by the rising of the star constellation known as Matariki, the Māori New Year signalled a time for connecting with, and giving thanks to the land, sea and sky. It was a time for the community to come together to farewell those departed and acknowledge the year gone by. It was also a time to turn to the future, welcoming the new generation to the world and planning for the year ahead.
In addition Matariki was a time when people would gather to share kai, rituals, entertainment, hospitality and learnings.

New studyladder certificates

Fantastic effort the three of you.  Keep up the great work!

Colour blending

We went for a walk in our school grounds today to look at all the koru patterns.  There are so many of them.  Next we drew our patterns onto paper with black crayon and then Mrs C showed us how to blend the colours.  We have made some fabulous artworks.  When they are finished we will use a dye on them to really show up the crayon blending.
