Goodtime Music Academy Concert

 

What a great way to end the week. Johnny will be teaching ukulele, keyboard, drums, guitar and bass over the next five weeks and then a concert to finish.  If you re keen, get those enrolment forms in to the office by Tuesday

Our Olympic athletes arrived home today to a heroes welcome.  Valerie adams has been awarded a gold medal and here is our final medal tally for 2012.

Learning to touch type

 

Today we spent some time in the computer suite learning to touch type.  We were using a programme called dance mat typing.  You can find the link on the fun page of the blog.  We began by learning where we should place our fingers when we are typing and using the home line of the keyboard.

The children did amazingly well, starting to look at the screen rather than at their fingers and the keyboard.  Awesome work Room Six!  Tumeke!

Maree introduced me to this website and I have been fiddling around on it tonight.  I wonder if you can guess who the photograph was originally of, one of the Room Six children.

Great homework being done on study ladder

Look at all these certificates the children are accrueing on studyladder.  There are so many that I have only put on the ones from the Room Six children but well done to those of you in Rooms five and four also.

Squid dissection with Room 13

Last Friday Whaea Diana allowed Room Six to come and visit during their squid dissection.  It was awesome as we got to see all the external and internal features and organs of the arrowhead squid.  Check out these fantastic photos of our amazing morning

We looked at the squids beak and later we popped them out of the squid.

Next we cut open the mantle and began to look at the internal anatomy.

The eyes were pretty amazing, little clear balls. Can you find them in the photos?


Here is the pen which is the last remaining part of a shell that squid once had.  The children used this and the ink from the ink sac to write their names.  You can tell from the photos how engaged the children all were.  Amazing learning.  Thanks Room 13.  Room Six had a wonderful day!
