Fraction Art

Today we did some fraction art, comparing the size of fractions. We used sgraffitto to make our fraction circles.

Shell House

What an awesome house.  An innovative design.  Wouldn't it be cool to meet this architect.

And look at the nautilis dome structure.

Rats and Rabbits

We played Rats and Rabbits with Rooms Two and Three this afternoon.  We didn't get our trees planted, maybe tomorrow or Wednesday.  It feels like time to get back into the school garden as well.

Measurement Monday

Today we made bread and tried to make a fizzy lemonade drink with our acids and bases.  We finally got the recipe right for the last four kids who thought it was yum,  everyone else, well I guess baking soda isn't your favourite taste.  We all learn from our mistakes though!

Earthquakes

I am so glad we spent the first two weeks of term learning about what to do in an earthquake.  All the children who were still at school this afternoon knew exactly what to do.  Everyone outside turtled and everyone inside did the same or went under furniture or into doorways.

Remember to check the Get Thru website to check your survival kit.
Wow Room Twelve,

You ran a fabulous science assembly today.  I had so many great compliments from the teachers, the mayor and the other children.

How will we manage tofollow that one up next time?

I was really impressed with your knowledge of what our mayor does in his job.  He really enjoyed our science experiments as well.  And how cool was it that Miss Hay's grandfather was also a mayor of Lower Hutt and his name was engraved on the myoral bling.
